Your thinking process is lacking when suffering from depression no matter what is the cause for it. For too long I neglected to take care of my mental health.
There are days life gets difficult and I feel like the worst things will happen. These are depression symptoms feeling hopeless pessimistic and stressed out.
Usually you become fearful instead of hopeful when suffering from depression because you assume other people are out to harm you. Here are 4 tips to maintain your mental health in your daily actions.
#1 Get up everyday with a smile to give
Even if you are feeling down give a smile to the people in your life. A down mood affects the atmosphere of all those around you. A smile is more pleasant than a frown that keeps you feeling low.
Be happy you are living and thankful for your life.
A simple reason to smile is to encourage other people to be optimistic. In the previous post I talked about what is depression and how when grieving seek out solace from close friends and sometimes it’s not healthy to work through pain with activity. When you are completing activities smile.
It doesn’t have to be shown outwardly but choose to be cheerful and see how much stress you can release.
#2 What’s your odds?
At my worst moments I didn’t take notice of my surroundings. My thinking process was focus on my pain and not noticing how other people are feeling around me. This was the result of a faulty mindset in dealing with life events.
Do you have an objective reality about your surroundings?
Many people feel threatened by others but they have much to offer with their skills talents and abilities.
Can you see how your life will get better? If not begin to think on how it will get better no matter how hard it may seem at this moment in your life. Pray for what you need and work to get it because things will change and when it does it will be for your benefit.
You will have relief from this mental disease.
This helps your mood when you know within things are going to get better no matter the odds.
#3 Life will improve
For months, I gave up on life. My thinking was I can’t deal with the stress in my life from tragedies to low self-esteem issues.
It seemed like all my hard work turned into failure because depression handicaps your ability to think positive in the midst of challenges.
However you have the capacity to commit in your mind to beat this disease.
You must fully accept your life will improve and you will work to better it.
Never give up on life because you waste precious time worrying when you can actually be living your life. Everything happens for a reason.
Please know you can find happiness with a positive outlook in the midst of this disease.
#4 Show Gratitude
Do you appreciate how other people have helped you?
No one gets through in life without support. Show gratitude to people who support you in the best way you know how, even if it’s all you have to give or know what to do.
Be grateful because it can make you feel happy inside to know you are encouraging someone in their life.

Say ‘thank you’ and show sincere appreciation for what you have in your life. This is something I work on daily because your mood will improve immensely when you appreciate what you have in life.
