These 7 Everyday Tasks Cause Depression and How to Deal With It

by Abigail Johnson Akingbade on April 18, 2012

“That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the task itself has become easier, but that our ability to perform it has improved.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Persistence is the key to live depression free. You must be persistent in your want to thrive and not just survive in your daily life.

There is a pattern to your life that is necessary for you to put food on your table keep the electricity on and provide your basic needs.

There are daily tasks that most must do everyday just to live.

You go to work, plan to spend time with loved ones, and contemplate what you will eat for dinner.

These daily tasks cause depression for you unknowingly. Don’t give in.  Find out how to handle it.

#1 Monday Morning

Recently, my friend had a heart attack on a Monday morning at work. He was rushed to the hospital.

The doctor put him on a strict diet told him to exercise daily and to limit the amount of stress in his life.

My friend is not the only one going through health problems in this current economy.

Statistics show more people die on Monday morning more so than any other day of the week.

The stress of having to work on a job causes despair and depression.

You dread Monday mornings when you have to get up and go to work?!

It is a daunting task you do just to put food on your table.

Avoid letting a job make you depressed …

You must learn to put yourself first before the job.  Build your personal skills outside of your work.

One time, I worked at a Fast Food restaurant just to bring in income. I dreaded the Monday mornings where I had to work from 5am to 2pm.

It was awful.

My solution to this Monday morning dread was to develop personal skills outside of work that I enjoyed doing.

It made me feel empowered knowing my life was not fully dependent on the job.

It gave me something to look forward to when coming home from work.

I was also able to release work frustrations knowing my financial situation was not totally dependent on the job.

#2 Fixing Dinner

Eating is an everyday tasks.

If you don’t eat you can’t live. If you don’t eat balanced meals you can’t live fully and in your best mental condition.

But many fail to express how much anxiety comes with trying to eat balanced meals.

You become depressed when the stress of life or the overwhelming feeling of having to do it yourself sinks in.

Prepare before the time comes for you to cook.

Buy the foods necessary to cook the meal before hand so you won’t have to go to the grocery store.

Prepare in advance the night before so all you have to do is stick it in the oven when you get home.

Or prepare at night and use a slow cooker to make it.

Put the meat in a slower cooker in the morning and by the time you want to eat dinner for the day it should be done.

If you give in to the thought you don’t have time or it’s too much work, you feel disappointed in not being able to eat healthy.

Find a way to cook dinner based on your daily schedule because it boosts your mental state to eat freshly cooked balanced meals.

#3 Paying Your Bills

The tasks most of us fail to conquer and lose hope is paying bills. You can’t live without currency.

Basic living expenses and other expenses you have accumulated such as credit card student loans or mortgage has to be paid in order for you to survive.

A recent study shows the leading cause of depression is a lack of money issues.

I read about a famous author who underwent a major depressive episode after going through a foreclosure and facing the trouble of not having a book deal.

He said it hit him all at once and he felt like his brain was cracking. For days he couldn’t get out of bed and he felt like no one understood his pain.

It took him much therapy and many months to recover.

The lack of money is the leading cause for depression because it is necessary to survive and many become hopeless when they are unable to have a way to obtain it.

Bills are constant monthly.

You need currency to pay bills or else you will be homeless and not able to buy food to eat properly.

The best solution is to diversify your income and get financial literacy.

#4 Completing Work Projects

It is irritating when working to meet others demands. You feel insecure about your abilities.

The pressure can make the tasks difficult.

You become discouraged when others criticize and talk badly about your work.

The need to satisfy makes you depressed.

When I worked at a Fast Food restaurant my boss gave me many tasks such as washing the dishes keeping the floor clean and making sure the refrigerator foods are always stocked.

These tasks required his review to see if I did it to standard.

It was discouraging when my boss criticized my work when I knew I was working hard to complete it.

The constant supervision makes you feel agitated and nervous. The tasks of completing it makes you feel physically drained and exhausted.

You have to build character within yourself and not let others take advantage of you.

Demand respect in a diligent manner.

Even if you work for yourself this is a part of life that you face when making a living.

Keep a big picture perspective of why you do the things you do on a daily basis.

Listen to motivational teachings for uplifting messages to help you each day.

#5 Balance Your Life Schedule

For young adults this is a big tasks that determines success or failure in achieving your ideal mood.

Friends are vital to a balanced livelihood but too much time with friends keeps you from working on your life goals focusing on what you want in life and developing the life you want to live.

Often times, it is easy to get caught up in having fun and neglect the other areas of life such as work family and personal development.

You are going to make the average income of the 5 people you hang around.

The people you hang around influence your life. Choose the right friends that inspire you to be better.

If you spend too much time with friends start today make a goal for what you will do that does not include your friends. In most instances you hang out and don’t do anything.

That is time wasted you could be productive.

This also goes for some adults who always attend parties but are never productive in any other areas of life.

Build a balance for your life.

Hire a coach to guide you in this area because a coach can see the areas you need help and give you necessary guidance.

A coach will help guide you in the direction you want your life to go. Living Life successfully takes a team.

If you don’t have the funds to hire a coach start using the free resources on the internet and at the library to be your coach.

#6 Taking Action to Achieve Your Purpose

Everyone is born with a purpose. If you don’t know what your purpose is pray for guidance and take some time this week to figure out your purpose.

Biblical teachings suggest we are to grow in character. (Galatians 5: 22-23)

A part of character is joy. Finding fulfillment in being who you are.

This is not just a one time endeavor. Achieving your purpose is what you should do everyday because you believe this is what you were put on this earth to do.

It is a lifetime journey that you work at everyday of your life.

There are many non relevant situations that come up in life that distract you from your purpose.

Always keep your purpose written on a piece of paper to keep with you wherever you go or memorize it in your mind so everyday when you wake up you know what you are working to accomplish.

Have people in your life that will encourage you in your purpose.

It can be motivation for when you are down and feeling hopeless.

Be purposeful in your daily actions to get more meaning out of your days.

When finding true meaning spirits are uplifted and real joy can fill your soul.

#7 Dealing With People

Many people allow their feelings to determine how they treat others. For instance, you have a bad moment so you take it out on others who cross your path.

For those who have to deal with an irritable person it is difficult.

If you are one who does this stop taking out your frustrations out on others. You are being a bully and no one wants to be around you.

Words are not supposed to hurt if you agree …

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words don’t.

But sometimes words do hurt.

People can say the most discouraging words and deter your thinking and decrease your joy.

You end up wondering why did they say that.

You can’t control others actions but you can control your reactions.

It is disheartening when others act in a way you least expect.

Put on your brave face and don’t let what others say have a hold over you.

Some people feed off of others misery. If you are one who does this then know you need to build self-esteem and get over yourself.

Rather than let it get you down read and listen to audio CDs and DVDs on how to deal with difficult people.

No one can make you feel bad unless you let them.

Be strong and know you are special for being you.

Conclusion

The daily tasks necessary to live can be depressing. It takes encouragement and personal development to withstand despair.

Hold on to a bigger picture of what you want out of life to avoid getting stuck by the mundane tasks of living.

Living successfully takes support from others. Surround yourself with friends and people who will build you up and not tear you down.

Thank you, I’ve recently been looking for information about this subject for ages and yours is the best I have found out so far. But, what concerning the bottom line? Are you positive about the source?|What i don’t understood is in fact how you’re no longer actually a lot more smartly-appreciated than you might be now. You’re so intelligent.
