There are many challenges in life that can trigger depression. It’s a benefit to know what is depression to gauge when you are experiencing symptoms. As you learn more about this disease, you can become well equipped to handle it.
Are you able to manage what triggers your depression?
I once received alarming news. I became distraught with grief and unable to think beyond the pain.
I called my friend to grab lunch. We ate and after eating I told my friend the bad news.
I started crying with hurt and tears running down my face. My friend didn’t say anything, maybe she didn’t know what to say, but it didn’t matter. Nothing had to be said.
It felt like I was sitting there for hours crying but it was probably 5 or 10 minutes. After lunch I went to my work and plunged myself into working to get my mind off of the grief.
As I reflect on it now working to avoid pain is unhealthy. It gives temporary relief but you will have to confront the hurt.
I discussed in a previous post working helps your mood although acknowledge your despair.
Many people who are feeling down use their job to avoid dealing with pain. Activity can be a way to release the pain because its a distraction from pondering your troubles. However face the hurt to get better.
This disease took a devastating impact on my reasoning and ability to function.
I hope you continue to learn about this disease because you can recoup your mental health.
With Love,
Abigail
